UHF RFID tags, which operate in the 860–960 MHz frequency band, are the most widely used type of RFID tag today. With a read range of 1 to 12 meters, the ability to read up to 1,000 tags per second, and a low unit cost, they have become the top choice for the warehousing, logistics, textile, retail, and laundry industries.

As an RFID distributor, we stock UHF RFID tag models from Impinj, Avery Dennison, Smartrac, Alien, and Confidex in our Turkish warehouse. All of our models are compliant with the GS1 EPC Gen2 standard and integrate directly into the global supply chain. In addition to standard models, we also manufacture tags with custom sizes and printing options.

What Is a UHF RFID Tag, and How Does It Work?

UHF (Ultra High Frequency) RFID tags receive the 860–960 MHz radio waves emitted by the reader via an antenna and transmit the data encoded on the chip back to the reader. Passive models do not require a battery; they draw energy directly from the electromagnetic field emitted by the reader. As a result, the tags have an unlimited lifespan and incur no maintenance costs.

A standard UHF RFID tag consists of three layers: the antenna (an aluminum or copper printed circuit), the chip (ICs such as Impinj Monza, NXP UCODE, or Alien Higgs), and the substrate (paper, PET, PP, or fabric). Selecting the right model based on the application surface and environmental conditions directly determines read performance.

Types of UHF RFID Tag Models

🏷 Dry Inlay / Wet Inlay

Raw label sheets, available in both self-adhesive (wet) and non-adhesive (dry) forms. Ideal for integrating into your own packaging or for use in custom manufacturing processes. Offers bulk supply options at the lowest unit cost.

Typical applications: Production line integration · In-package placement · Printer-coder systems

📋 RFID Label (Writable Label)

Self-adhesive RFID labels suitable for printing barcodes, text, and logos using thermal or thermal transfer printers. Compatible with RFID printers such as Zebra, Honeywell, and TSC. Supplied in roll format and ready for use directly on the production line.

Typical uses: Warehouse labeling · Shipping labels · Retail price tags · Healthcare

🔩 On-Metal UHF RFID Tag

Standard UHF tags do not work on metal surfaces; metal absorbs the RF signal, preventing reading. On-metal tags can be affixed directly to metal surfaces thanks to an additional insulating layer (foam or ceramic) and provide high reading reliability.

Typical uses: Industrial equipment · Vehicles & tires · Metal racks & containers · IT asset management

🧺 Laundry UHF RFID Tag

Labels specially manufactured to withstand 200 to 500 wash cycles, temperatures of 85–120°C, and contact with chemical detergents. Models compatible with sewing or thermal transfer printing are available.

Typical uses: Hotel laundry · Hospital linens · Uniforms & workwear · SPA & pool

🏭 Industrial & Long-Lasting UHF RFID Tags

Models with a hard shell or laminated coating that are resistant to high temperatures, humidity, chemicals, and UV radiation. Designed for demanding environments such as outdoor storage, heavy industry, and the automotive sector.

Typical applications: Automotive & tires · Construction materials · Outdoor storage · Chemical industry

How to Choose the Right UHF RFID Tag?

1

B Determine the application surface
Paper, plastic, textiles → Standard inlay or label. Metal surfaces → On-metal label. Textiles exposed to water → Laundry label.
2

Determine the reading distance
1–2 m is sufficient → Compact inlay. 5–12 m is required → Models with a large antenna surface or additional antenna support.
3

Assess environmental conditions
High temperature, humidity, or contact with chemicals
